Without an account
The information you enter, your medications, plan, check-ins, and journal, is stored in this browser on your device. Clearing your browser data clears it; use Settings → Export to keep a backup. If you ask us to add a medication we don’t cover yet, we store that medication name and, if you give it, your email, only to tell you if we add it.
When you create an account
Your email and sign-in are handled by Supabase. While you’re signed in, everything you enter, including your plan, medications, check-ins, journal, and intake answers, syncs to a private database so it follows you across devices. Other users can never read your data. Once a day our server reads your synced record to decide whether a reminder or trial notice is due.
If you give us your email
If you enter your email before you have an account, for example to get a link back to your plan, a reminder before your free days end if you explore free (no card), or a copy of a curve from the taper visualizer, we store that address, where you entered it, and when. We never store your medication, dose, or health answers with it. A visualizer curve email shows the medication and dose you entered; they are used to build that one email and are not kept. We may send a short follow-up or two, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
The AI companion
When you chat with the companion, your messages are sent to Anthropic’s API along with context so it can respond to your situation: your first name if you gave one, your medications and doses, your taper schedule and recent symptoms, any safety concerns you flagged at intake (such as thoughts of self-harm), and short excerpts from your most recent journal entries and check-in notes. We keep a count of how many messages you send each day, never what they say, to apply a daily limit. Please don’t share anything you wouldn’t want processed by a third-party AI service.
Emails are sent through Resend. Reminders and trial notices can include your medication’s name, upcoming step dates, and progress; you can turn them off in Settings, and every email has a one-tap unsubscribe link. If you add a support person, we email them on rough stretches and milestones. They learn that you’re coming off a medication and how it’s going, never your doses, symptoms, or plan, and they can unsubscribe from those emails themselves at any time.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe, which receives your email address. Stripe tells us your subscription status and email so we can link your subscription to your account and email you about your trial and billing. We never see or store your card number.
Measurement
We count page visits with Vercel Web Analytics and measure page speed with Vercel Speed Insights; neither uses cookies, and web addresses are recorded without the part after the “?”. We also log which intake and checkout steps were reached, plus a few similar events such as opening an upgrade screen, under a random ID kept in your browser’s storage. These logs never include your answers, medication, dose, or email.
Hosting
Subside runs on Vercel.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete all data erases your plan, check-ins, and journal on this device and in your synced copy. Your sign-in account and email address stay so your subscription keeps working; to delete those too, contact us using the details below and we’ll remove them.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t run advertising trackers against your health information.
